How To Develop Positive Self-Talk

What It Means For Me
This simple quote holds deep wisdom. It contains the key for your own life story. It may be an uncomfortable thought for many of us to imagine that this could actually be true. Allow yourself to be fully honest to you. Ignore your ego for a second and let the words sink in. Deep in your heart you know that this is the truth.
With this comes the probably painful conclusion that you are 100% responsible for your life. This may cause feelings in you that say it is unfair, unbelievable, or simply not true. But on the other site it means that you are the one in the driving seat. Simply change your destination in the navigation system and turn off the autopilot. You are not a victim of the circumstances, you are the one creating and attracting them!
It is about time to take back control of your life’s course, isn’t it?
No matter where you are in life: Quit talking, and begin doing.
How Self-Talk Determines Who We Are
Whether you are aware of it or not, your current life situation is the result of your thoughts. The way you think about yourself determines who you are and how the world around you manifests itself as your perceived reality. While we are getting distracted by the noise of our daily lives, we have forgotten how to get in touch with our innermost power.
The problem is that we are unaware of our self-talk for most of the time.
Below, I am going to list a couple of negative self-talk examples which are the result of limiting beliefs deep inside of you. In fact, according to the law of cause and effect, one of the 7 Hermetic Principles, they have to become self-fulfilling prophecies:
- I can’t do this. This is impossible
- This is easy for you, but I could never do that
- I am too stupid for this
- I am afraid to try because I might fail
- I am a smoker/addict. I need this to feel better.
- I am a victim of the circumstances/society/my past actions/other people’s actions
- They said that I cannot do it, and they were right about it
- I was raised this way and cannot do anything about it
- I am always unlucky with my partners
- I have bad genes
- It’s not my fault, there’s nothing I can do about it
- I always have been overweight and my parents have been too
- I hate eating healthy
- To lose weight I have to spend hours in the gym
- Everyone hates exercising, it’s hard work
- I can’t see myself as healthy, it’s been so long
- This health issue I have is very serious and cannot be cured
- Nothing I do works to relieve this issue
- I wish this would just go away, I don’t deserve this
- I’ll never be free of this issue
- People in my profession aren’t rich.
- Good opportunities don’t come to me
- I am always in debt and it doesn’t get better
- I am just not good with money.
- I am never lucky.
- I can only earn more money if I work harder
- I cannot be happy if I’m not rich.
- Rich people are not happy
- Money is bad
- I do not have what it takes to become rich/get a promotion/be successful
- I need money to make money
- I am fine with my income, I don’t want to pay more tax
These are just some examples for negative self-talk that has become a bad habit. With so much negativity in your thoughts, it is time to find a way how to reprogram the way you are thinking.

What you have to realize is this:
Your habits won’t go away without your conscious effort to do so. When you finish reading this post and don’t do anything about your self-talk, you will simply continue with your counterproductive routine. It is crucial to get into action and make use of the knowledge we have. Applied knowledge is lived and experienced wisdom. This is the only way to start your transformation process in any area of your life.
You can either continue to run on autopilot or start changing your life today. Begin to use one of the methods below to start reprogramming the biggest limiting belief you currently have about yourself or a goal that you want to achieve in life.
This is a learning process. You have to learn how to think positive. This is not about denying reality by forcefully thinking positive which is not going to work. It is about reprogramming your subconscious mind which cannot distinguish between reality and imagination.
By imprinting new beliefs on your subconscious mind, you create a so called cognitive dissonance. This will force your mind to do everything necessary to align the world around your with your imagination. Rewriting your beliefs will “rewire” your subconscious mind. A clear imaginary vision of your goal that is repeated over and over again will intensify the desire in you to make it a reality. You are going to be UNSTOPPABLE and will do anything possible to achieve this goal. You are going to be unreasonable because you have to get done what you have to get done, no matter what others say or might think of you.
You will tell yourself: “It is possible. It is possible. It is possible. And it is not over until I win because I deserve it!” (and so on 🙂 ) You can watch Les Brown to get some motivation
Accept and transform negativity
By neglecting your negative self-beliefs you only make them stronger. Denying reality is not an option. The problem is that our emotions magnify our thoughts and thus, create a much stronger reflection of them in the world around you.
By facing your fears and negative beliefs you transform them and create space for positive thoughts. This brings changes into your life that are in alignment with your innermost desires.
Replacing sabotaging beliefs and habits with positive constructive ones will give you massive support from your subconscious resources (not replacing them will do the same, just against your will). You will shift your focus and perception. This way circumstances are going to show up that are in alignment with your new habits and beliefs and that you would have missed before. The principle at work is always the same, but only now it is working in your favor.
Reprogramming Your Mind
There are several options to rewrite the program in your mind. Except for NLP, I am using all of them:
How to do it:
Choose your two biggest self-limiting beliefs and turn them into a positive phrase. Say each phrase for 5 minutes every day for 90 days. Use a stopwatch and say it out loud to not get distracted with other thoughts or drifting off. Are you able to set aside 10 minutes each day to change yourself? Are you willing to leave your comfort zone? Will you stop after one week and say that it is pointless or are you really determined to change that belief? Create a checklist and tick off each time that you said your phrase. When you are done with them, you can go on with the next one.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
I am personally not yet familiar with NLP but intend to study it further in the future. Therefore, I attached a video below that explains it a bit more in detail, just in case you are interested.
How to do it:
Look for a self-hypnosis track that is helping you with your problem either on YouTube or in the Mind Shop section of this website. I have collected some self-hypnosis tracks that I am using also by myself. It is important to use the same track consistently for about three weeks. You can either listen to it before you are going to sleep or right after waking up (find out what hypnosis is good for)

- Creative Visualization
- Anything you can think of
Emotional Freedom Technique
How to do it:
Select one of the negative beliefs from above and add more details to them according to your situation. Use the EFT choices method and choose to let go of that belief, because it is not longer supporting you.
Example: “I believe I am never lucky”
Setup Phrase: “Even though I believe that I am never lucky, I choose to let go of this believe. It no longer supports me.”
Tapping Phrase Round 1: I believe that I am never lucky
Tapping Phrase Round 2: I choose to let go of the belief that I am never lucky
Tapping Phrase Round 3: 1+2 alternating; (I believe that I am never lucky)( I choose to let go of that belief)(I believe that I am never lucky)( I choose to let go of that belief)…
Write down your biggest goal and listen to your self-talk. You will be able to identify a bunch of limiting beliefs. Ask yourself: “What is my biggest block to…?”

How to implement your positive self-talk session into your daily life
I recommend to setup your own morning ritual which can benefit you in many ways (10 Benefits Of A Morning Routine). I have tried various things and will write about it in more detail in the future. If you have problems in setting up your own morning ritual I recommend you to get professional help from the guy from morning ritual mastery.
Whenever you realize throughout the day that you start negative self-talk, try to “catch yourself”. Use a journal and write down what comes to your mind. Try to work on your negative beliefs when you have the time to do so and let go of those beliefs.
The best time to do so is in the morning and right before going to sleep.
Spend as much time as you can each day reading these statements aloud to yourself. When you cannot say them aloud practice them silently in your head.
Positive Self-Talk of Successful People
You still don’t believe that this is actually going to work?
Here are two examples of successful people and their self-talk. This doesn’t need to be necessarily self-talk in the strict sense of the word but it illustrates how you can create the reality that you desire.
It is reported that he was completely broke in 1990 and dreaming of his future. He wrote himself a check for 10 million dollars, dated it for Thanksgiving 1995, and wrote in the notation line “for acting services rendered”
Result: By 1995, he had seen the tremendous success with his movies. His per film fee at that point had escalated to $20 million.
John D. Rockefeller (1839-1937)
As a youth, Rockefeller reportedly said that his two great ambitions were to make $100 thousand (equivalent to $3 million in 2015 dollars) and to live 100 years.
Result: He became 97 years old which was very hard to achieve at that time (as it is today) and is considered to be the richest man in recent history up to this day.
